Terms of Use
Last updated: 15 August 2026
By using thebidsheet.docsanddeadlines.com ("this site"), you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.
What this site is
The Bid Sheet publishes general reference material about residential repair and replacement estimates in the United States: what a complete bid contains, how to verify the equipment and quantities written on one, what manufacturer warranties oblige, and where permits, licensing records, and code provisions can be looked up.
It is a reference, not a service, and not a contractor. No page here inspects a building, diagnoses a fault, designs a system, performs a load calculation for you, or certifies that any work meets code. Nothing here reviews your particular estimate, values your particular job, or recommends a particular company.
This site is independent of the trades it writes about. It accepts no referral fees, lead fees, commissions, or sponsorship from contractors, manufacturers, distributors, home warranty companies, insurers, or lead-generation networks, and it is not affiliated with AHRI, ACCA, ICC, the Department of Energy, any state licensing board, or any manufacturer whose documents it cites. Trade marks and product names belong to their owners and are used only to identify what a document refers to.
No professional advice
Content here is general information, not professional advice.
The author is not a licensed contractor, home inspector, engineer, architect, electrician, plumber, roofer, or attorney, holds no trade licence or certification of any kind, and nothing on this site is offered as construction, engineering, safety, legal, or insurance advice. Reading this site, or corresponding with the author, creates no professional relationship.
In particular, nothing here should be used to decide that an installation is safe, that equipment is correctly sized, that wiring or gas piping is adequate, that a structure will carry a load, or that any work complies with the code in force where you live. Those determinations belong to a licensed professional and to your building department. Work on gas appliances, electrical service equipment, combustion venting, and structures can injure or kill people when it is done wrong; do not use this site as a reason to do such work yourself or to skip an inspection.
Accuracy and currency
Guides are researched against official sources and dated on publication. Even so:
- The material this site describes changes on its own schedule: manufacturers revise warranty certificates and registration windows without notice, refrigerant and efficiency regulations take effect on fixed dates, code editions are adopted and amended locally rather than nationally, product lines are discontinued, and licensing and permit records are updated by the agencies that hold them.
- Which code applies to you depends on what your jurisdiction has adopted and amended, so a provision quoted here may read differently, or not apply at all, in your city or county.
- A guide reflects the situation at the date shown on it, not necessarily today.
- Errors happen.
No warranty is given that content is accurate, complete, or current. If you find something wrong, please report it via the contact page — corrections are made promptly.
