The fastest way to reach me is email:
thebidsheet@docsanddeadlines.com
I read everything. I reply to most things within a few days, though it can take longer during busy weeks.
What I'd especially like to hear about
Corrections. If a registration window, a warranty term, a model designation, a code section number, or a state licence lookup described here no longer matches the document you opened, please tell me — ideally with the PDF name or the URL you were looking at. Manufacturers revise warranty certificates quietly and jurisdictions adopt new code editions on their own schedule, so readers holding a current document usually find the change months before I re-check the page. Corrections get applied and the article's "updated" date is bumped.
Gaps. If a line on your estimate sent you searching and every result was a contractor selling that exact job, that is the kind of thing this site exists to write up. Send the wording of the line item and what you were trying to find out. Both are useful: the first tells me what the guide should cover, the second tells me what it should be called.
Questions about where a document lives. I can't tell you whether your equipment needs replacing or whether a price is fair. But if you are stuck on the document layer — which manufacturer publishes its warranty terms where, what an AHRI reference number looks like, which agency in your state holds contractor licence records, how to tell which code edition your county adopted — ask. If I can point you to the source that answers it, I will.
What I can't help with
- Reviewing your estimate or contract, comparing two bids for you, or telling you whether a quoted price is reasonable
- Diagnosing a fault, sizing equipment, evaluating whether an installation is safe or code-compliant, or anything else that requires seeing the building
- Recommending, vetting, or introducing contractors, and referrals of any kind — I take no lead fees or commissions
- Disputes with a contractor, manufacturer, or home warranty company, including anything already in arbitration, mediation, or court
- Requests to publish sponsored posts, paid guest articles, or link insertions
Please don't send contracts, invoices, or estimates with your name, address, or account numbers on them. I don't need them to fix a page, and I would rather not hold them. If you are describing a situation, describe it in general terms and redact anything identifying.
